I am seriously starting to think I am not human, or part of the human race! Why? Because every time I turn around there are people convincing me that humans are all dishonorable, self-important, materialistic, cheating, animals that have little or no sense of decency. Furthermore, it seams that each of the people who seem to fall under these qualities attribute the same to every “Human”!
I will say that I am obviously human enough to Make mistakes, have a bad day, treat someone the wrong way, or let my anger get the best of me. I do however also admit my mistakes, try not to let 80-90% of my problems and issues effect the way I act, apologize when I hurt someone, and do my best to never let anger turn to hate.
I have been witness over the years to a number of conversations that people (some friends, co-workers, and others people I never had met before in my life), were having, and these conversations compelled me to write this article. I figured after so many varied circumstances, people and topics overall, I have a fair sampling of the average “Human”.
For example of a conversation I have heard from at least three different sources, it seems the average male thinks it is absolutely normal in a conversation about relationships to say that “one is never enough”, even in the presence of females and even if they are married. To have the unmitigated gall to say “You know you gotta have ‘that other one’ ready just in case”! Don’t think I’m just going to rag on the Male population of the viral infestation of the average Human populace… I was shocked to hear only a short while ago “I didn’t marry him for his brains, it was for his looks.” OMFG! Should anyone marry anyone at all for looks or brains alone? what happened to the concept of Love?
I personally am not a liberal or a conservative per say… I’m not extremely religious either… But I do have an Honor Code, I have Morals, I have the common sense to know that even jokingly something of this level of indecency should not be conversation fodder! Not everyday average small talk!
The fact that people like this are the majority of the sampling I have been witness to is not the worst of it by far. It’s that the people who try to avoid the conversations, stand-up for what they think is the right and decent thing to do, not only are they not given credit for having the common sense to know it’s wrong, but are mentally labeled as outcasts! But then again they are expected to fill bigger shoes when it comes time to solve a moral dilemma, or if they once or twice fall by the wayside and dabble to close to the average Human territory, are pounced on, denounced, and used as an example!
It seems the world is evolving, or rather the Human race is de-evolving morally, by what ever means it can. 1) Selective breading: immoral people look to find an immoral match, lest they be judged. 2) Learned Traits: parents of immoral people are examples for there children who grow up thinking that immorality is the status quo. 3) Then there are the people like me who are starting to get tired of trying to hold their ground! Doing a thousand things right just isn’t enough if a mistake is made. Not sure how many are actually out there, cause none of them were around for me to witness there point of view. But I for one have started to have that little voice in the back of my head that says “why try so hard to be the Honorable, Just, and Moral Human?”…
I do it because I am that person.
I do it because I would not be the person I am today if I had made my choices any differently.
In the end does it matter?
